Free Dosha Quiz – Discover Your Ayurvedic Body Type
Take our free dosha quiz to explore your Ayurvedic body type and discover whether Vata, Pitta or Kapha is most prominent in your constitution.
In Ayurveda, your natural constitution is known as Prakriti. It describes the physical characteristics, digestive tendencies and behavioural patterns traditionally associated with each of the three doshas.
Our Ayurveda dosha quiz offers a straightforward introduction to these principles, helping you better understand your individual characteristics.
🌿 What Are the Three Ayurvedic Doshas?
Ayurveda describes three fundamental doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Each represents different qualities and functions within traditional Ayurvedic theory.
🌬️ Vata – Movement and Change
Associated with air and space, Vata represents movement and change.
People with prominent Vata characteristics are traditionally described as having lighter builds, variable appetites, quick thinking and a tendency towards restlessness.
🔥 Pitta – Heat and Transformation
Associated with fire and water, Pitta represents heat, digestion and transformation.
Pitta-dominant individuals are traditionally described as having stronger appetites, medium builds, determined personalities and greater sensitivity to heat.
🌱 Kapha – Structure and Stability
Associated with earth and water, Kapha represents structure, stability and nourishment.
Kapha characteristics traditionally include a sturdier build, steady temperament, slower digestion and a preference for established routines.
Most people display a combination of two or all three doshas rather than fitting neatly into one category.
🧘 Why Take an Ayurveda Dosha Quiz?
Understanding your Ayurvedic constitution provides a traditional framework for examining individual differences in food preferences, digestion, activity and everyday habits.
By completing our Vata, Pitta and Kapha quiz, you can explore:
- Your dominant dosha: Which Ayurvedic characteristics most closely match your answers.
- Your digestive tendencies: How Ayurveda traditionally interprets differences in appetite and digestion.
- Food and nutrition: The warming, cooling, light and heavy food qualities described in Ayurvedic dietary practice.
- Lifestyle habits: How traditional Ayurveda approaches daily routines, rest and physical activity.
- Your constitution: Whether your answers suggest one dominant dosha or a combination.
These classifications are part of traditional Ayurvedic practice. They should not be confused with established medical diagnoses or measurements of metabolic function.
🔬 How Reliable Are Dosha Tests?
Ayurvedic practitioners have traditionally assessed constitution through observation, questioning and examination of physical and behavioural characteristics.
Modern researchers have investigated whether questionnaires can assess these characteristics consistently.
A 2025 review of Ayurvedic constitution assessment tools examined 94 studies and identified 64 different assessment methods.
Only 20 had undergone some form of validation, and researchers found substantial gaps in reliability testing and scientific standardisation.
This means an online dosha test is best understood as an educational self-assessment rather than a clinically validated diagnostic tool.
Our quiz follows traditional Ayurvedic principles while recognising these scientific limitations.
